Six concerts and a live drama take place from March 3 to 31, 2013

BBC Radio 3 and the National Trust will present six live concerts and fully-staged drama, The Misanthrope (English Touring Theatre Company and Liverpool Everyman Playhouse), from March 3 to 31, 2013, placing Baroque performance in its historical context. Audiences will be given the opportunity to experience the music of the 17th and 18th centuries in National Trust properties, each with their own links to the period. The events will form part of a wider Radio 3 season, 'Baroque Spring'.
The concerts are to be presented by Radio 3’s Katie Derham, who will be joined by the Antique Roadshow’s Lars Tharp during intervals to offer insight into the Baroque connections at each house. Each performance will be broadcast on Radio 3 and will be open to the public.

Baroque hits

My friend, who is not an avid classical music listener, recently heard the famous Albinoni Adagio for the first time on the Sunday Baroque radio program, and her interest was piqued. She asked me to suggest similar Baroque pieces that she might enjoy. So I put together a CD for her to listen to, a sort of Baroque "greatest hits." With only 80 minutes to use, here's what I included. What would your list look like?
Albinoni: Adagio for organ and strings. (Not authentically Baroque, but included by request.)
Handel: Water Music (Allegro and Hornpipe from Suite 2, two favorites

Music

I mostly go back to the music I "found" in my teens, music which kinda shaped my academic goals—Traditional British Isles/Celtic (I also had a massive crush on Fiona Ritchie's gorgeous Scots accent wrt NPR and Thistle and Shamrock). Still love it, still love Classical/Baroque/Renaissance music and the Blues/Big Band I heard at home.
Growing up, we could usually get NPR at home on the radio, but not much else, so I missed 70s/80/ rock. In the 90s I was glued to books and working all the damn time.
Been having loads of fun with Pandora, LastFM, Spotify etc. "discovering" super music I missed
